Who We Are
My Blog is an independent information website about the UK television licence. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to TV Licensing, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), or any UK government department. We do not sell licences and we make no money from whether you buy one, cancel one, or never need one at all.
Why This Site Exists
The licence fee rules are simple at their core, but the official guidance often leaves people unsure about the questions that matter: whether their household actually needs a licence, how refunds really work, what the warning letters mean, and what rights they have at the doorstep. We answer those questions in plain English, with no scare tactics in either direction. If you watch live TV, we will tell you to buy the licence. If you genuinely do not need one, we will tell you that too.
How We Work
Every guide on this site is written from primary sources: government fee announcements published on GOV.UK, TV Licensing’s own published policies, and the Communications Act 2003 together with its regulations. We review the whole site after every government announcement that changes fees, concessions, or enforcement policy, and each guide shows the date it was last checked.
Corrections
Rules change and mistakes happen. If you spot anything out of date or incorrect, please tell us through our contact page and we will review it promptly. Accuracy is the entire value of this site, so corrections are always welcome.
